BOLD, ADVENTUROUS, AND ....... TALL.

The image I chose to vectorize is my favorite pair of shoes. They make me feel bold and adventurous. I used the pen tool to outline the majority of the image and went in to sketch the finer details with the pencil tool. Adding the color was a bit more difficult because I didn't add color until the end and i'm still trying to figure out how to organize everything into layers to go back and reference certain areas. However, to get the color I used the eyedropper tool to select the specific color and then hand painted everything. (For some reason I couldn't figure out how to color a section altogether.)

Dessert 2 Dorms (roughhhhhh.)

I chose the specific icons for my logo because I figured it was easy to read and got the message across visually. During my designing process in illustrator, I struggled a bit with using the correct tools to accurately produce the images I wanted. I had to free-hand draw each icon with the pencil tool and it was really hard so some of the lines are crooked. I definitely want to go back and fix the icons and the crooked lines because I think that it is distracting to the eye and might take away from my overall logo. Additionally, I had problems with adding color, however I would really like to make my logo brightly colored and fun. Color is a big deal with this specific logo because I want to attract younger adults/students to buy my product. I definitely need to improve many aspects of my logo, however this will be the basic set up.

Critique N' Some Logos

Each of these icons are extremely popular in today's society. They are memorable and define a "strong company logo." All of the above use minimal words and a unique design. They also contain memorable colors and designs and are not complex, making the icons eye-catching. Most of the icons above also have little to do with the products that the company supports. The Starbucks and McDonald's logos do not contain any food product related to the company. Nike does not have any sort of athletic product incorporated either. The most complex out of the icons I have chosen is obviously the Starbucks logo. However, it still successfully works and the woman represented is widely known across the nation.

I enjoy the colors used in the McDonald's logo. While it does not have anything to do with fast food specifically, the "golden arches" that make up the "M" remind me of french fries and the color scheme remind me condiments commonly used with fast food.

I also really enjoy the Underarmour logo because two simple letters combine make a unique shape that looks visually appealing and more than simply a "U" and "A." It is very creative and simple and works nicely on the products that the company sells.
